rajasthan-royals-yusufApril 24,2009 Newlnds Capetown: Kolkatta Knight Riders set a target of 16 for the Rajasthan Royals who won the match off with 2 balls to spare. Yusuf Pathan hit 2 sixes and a boundary in his valiant 18 that brought Rajasthan Royals the first valid 2 points in the IPL. The players shaked hands as Ganguly left the field disappointed following his team’s decision to bowl Ajantha Mendis. Confused? This could well be called the final result of the match. Rajasthan Royals won their first match of the season in what is called the ‘Super over’ rule. Both teams were tied at a score of 150 at the end of their 20 overs. saurav-kkrNot the best of the win’s as Shah Rukh Khan may call it, but the man is happy for Kolkatta Knight Riders won their second match against the  Kings XI Punjab to register their first points in the tournament. Sourav Ganguly made yet another comeback with the ball as he picked up 2 wickets to help restrict KXIP to a score of 158 for 6. Chris Gayle and Brendon McCullum scored quick runs before rain stopped play with KKR 11 runs over the Duckworth Lewis par score. (more…)

kkrKKR may be the team to look out this season. Controversy, drama, action and Shah Rukh Khan always seek your attention. Going by the recent news report, KKR has decided on Brendon McCullum to e the captain in-charge for full length of the tournament. Talking about the man, He’s the big boost for Kolkatta and his explosive batting style for the full length could well mean that the South African crowd will get to see another T20 century in fastest time. ipl_logoIndian Premier League commissioner Lalit Modi promised on Wednesday a non-stop carnival atmosphere at this year’s tournament in South Africa. At one point in time, The tournament stood chances off being scraped off for this year due to clashes between polls in India and the IPL dates. Modi took a quick decision and moved the tournament to South Africa much to the joy of Indian fans who now only have to wait two more days before the tournaments Kicks off on Saturday, April the 18th.

Sourav Ganguly returned a happy man after a meeting with Shah Rukh Khan and John Buchanan. SRK, the bollywood star who is the owner of the Kolkatta Knight Riders IPL team decided to put a lid on the controversy surrounding Buchanan’s theory of Multiple Captains by releasing a statement that during a game the team would resort to a group of “strategists” who would report to one on-field captain while making decisions. WanderersFinally, The schedule of the IPL Season 2 is out and for everyone to see. All eight IPL franchises will play at least half their matches in Durban, Cape Town and Centurion, where they hope to have significant crowd support from the sizeable Indian-origin population, according to the official tournament schedule that was released on Friday night. The opening double-header in Cape Town on April 18 – Mumbai Indians v Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals v Bangalore Royal Challengers – will feature at least nine South African players, including Graeme Smith, the South Africa captain, in a calculated attempt to spark local interest in what is essentially an Indian domestic event. Saurav Buchanan

Earlier in his carrer, Sourav had been sidelined by ex Indian coach, Greg Chappell which led to a contraversy that still itches painfully in Saurav’s mind. Ganguly made a tremendous comeback after being left out of the Indian side for over 12 months. Both Greg chappel and Sourav moved on and soon the contraversy faded into the past as Greg Chappel was removed as the Indian Coach. If that was not enough, Another Australian now in the form of John Buchanan has decided to sideline Ganguly of the responsibilities of a captian. Ganguly is the base player for the Kolkatta Knight Riders and by default was given the captincy role in Season one. (more…)
