gilchrist-deccan-chargersApril 22 2009, Newlands Capetown: Finally, there was no rain and the match started on time. The Weather was good, and the pitch good for batting. More like the Indian Sub-continent. The day belonged to Adam Gilchrist and Rohit Sharma who scored 123 between them off just 75 deliveries, 88 of them coming in boundaries. A chase of 185 was always going to be tough for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, They however put up a great fight under lights at Newlands courtesy Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli. Bangalore fell short of the target by just 24 runs as Deccan Chargers won two out of two. (more…)

csk-mathew-hayden20 April 2009, Port elizabeth, South Africa:Mathew Hayden, The Big New South Wales batsman, also ex-Australian cricketer stepped up to prove his buy for the Chennai Super Kings. In an innings of 65 off 43 balls Hayden murdered the Bangalore Royal challenger bowlers to take CSK to their first victory of the season, almost winning the match single handedly. His power hitting ensured that CSK reached a scre well out of the reach of the opposition as Muralitharan spinned a web around the RCB batsman to seal the deal for the Chennai Super Kings. In an almost one sided affair, Match 5 brought in some entertainment for the crowd. (more…)

rahul-dravidApril 18 2009, Capetown South Africa: Last years Champions Rajasthan Royals find themselves at the bottom of the table after losing their opening match against the under-dogs, Bangalore Royal Challengers. After finishing 7th in the last year’s tournament, a determined and a new-look Royal Challenger team took center stage in their bright red-gold uniforms to create history by bowling out the Rajasthan Royals for the lowest total in world T20 history. It was the oldies that did the job for the Royal Challengers, first it was Rahul Dravid with the bat and then it was Anil Kumble with the ball. Vijay Mallaya couldn’t have asked for a better opening performance from the team than this one. (more…)

katrina-kaif-royal-challengersThe team which was out and out rejected to be T20 side, The Bangalore Royal Challengers now have a new look side that leaves no question marks about it being a test side anymore. With imports in the likes of Kevin Pietersen and Jesse Ryder, Bangalore Royal Challengers now have boosted their batting line up with the swap of Zaheer Khan to Robin Utthapa  with the Mumbai Indians. With a team now comprising of a mix of older and younger players, team Royal challengers may well live up to the name of the flamboyant owner Vijay Mallaya.
