rajasthan-royals-yusufApril 24,2009 Newlnds Capetown: Kolkatta Knight Riders set a target of 16 for the Rajasthan Royals who won the match off with 2 balls to spare. Yusuf Pathan hit 2 sixes and a boundary in his valiant 18 that brought Rajasthan Royals the first valid 2 points in the IPL. The players shaked hands as Ganguly left the field disappointed following his team’s decision to bowl Ajantha Mendis. Confused? This could well be called the final result of the match. Rajasthan Royals won their first match of the season in what is called the ‘Super over’ rule. Both teams were tied at a score of 150 at the end of their 20 overs. Read on to find out what is Super Over and how it all fared. (more…)

rp-singh-deccan-chargersApril 19 2009, Capetown: They finished in the last spot last year, and what could have been a better series opener for them as the Deccan Chargers won their first match against the Kolkata Knight Riders. what was a mountain of expectation from Brendon Mccullum, after he scored 158 off 73 balls in season 1 opener, turned to be an easy climb for the Deccan chargers. They were outplayed in very department by the DC. It has been a weekend to savour for bowlers, and each member of Deccan’s attack did their bit to leave Kolkata scrambling to reach triple-digits. Herschelle Gibbs, coming off a triumphant series against Australia, and Rohit Sharma, back in the country where he made his name in 2007, then made sure Deccan’s campaign didn’t begin in the dismal way last season’s had. rahul-dravidApril 18 2009, Capetown South Africa: Last years Champions Rajasthan Royals find themselves at the bottom of the table after losing their opening match against the under-dogs, Bangalore Royal Challengers. After finishing 7th in the last year’s tournament, a determined and a new-look Royal Challenger team took center stage in their bright red-gold uniforms to create history by bowling out the Rajasthan Royals for the lowest total in world T20 history. It was the oldies that did the job for the Royal Challengers, first it was Rahul Dravid with the bat and then it was Anil Kumble with the ball. Vijay Mallaya couldn’t have asked for a better opening performance from the team than this one. (more…)

April 5, 2009 Sunday: Britain’s Jenson But-ton splashed to victory in a chaotic, rain-shortened Malaysian Grand Prix on Sunday for his second triumph in two races for the new Brawn GP team. Half points were awarded for only the fifth time in Formula One history because only 32 of the scheduled 56 laps had been completed before a torrential downpour turned the track into a lake. With thunderclaps and lightning streaking across the darkened Sepang skies, making driving conditions impossible even behind the safety car, the race was red-flagged and then abandoned. Button, who had again started from pole position after a Brawn one-two in the Australian season-opener last weekend, was leading behind the safety car when officials signalled the halt. (more…)
